1-415-366-0260 may be a Craigslist.org automated verification number. If you didn't try to create a Craigslist account then maybe someone has used your number.
The only people I can think of who'd be angry at seeing this post would be those who use phone numbers that *aren't theirs* in an attempt to create *fake* Craigslist accounts.
Sorry, am I the only one who doesn't have a clue what Will (below) is on about? Yes indeed, 415-366-0260 is a Craigslist.org phone number that calls your phone back and gives you an authorization code. This is to establish that the phone number (etc) that you set the 'legitimate' account up with, is 'legitimate'! Have a lovely, lovely day all :) Jude
I'm not entirely sure what you meant. If you mean you think I shouldn't have posted that, I can't think of a reason not to -- after all, if you're making a CL account you're unlikely to bother Googling the phone number at the top of this post. If, however, you're one of the people that occasionally gets telephoned in error by Craigslist just because someone trying to scam *Craiglist* used *your* phone number, most people would at least want to know that that's what going on. That's why I posted.
If you were trying to express some measure of support, I thank you. Craigslist (through no fault of its own) gets preyed on constantly, I'm sure, and unfortunately some people get "pranked" at random by the third party trying to scam for Craigslist accounts. People searching for the above phone number pretty obviously want to know what's going on.
